Very good condition 45 (Sufferer especially) original 1968 Jamaican pressing of this landmark Rocksteady killer. Gained popularity in the uk after it was released on Tighten up Vol 2 compilation on Trojan in 1970. Yellow label has a black marker pen of someone's (DJ'S?) signature on it. As far as I can tell every other 45 of this has DERRICK'S ONE STOP RECORD VILLAGE 125 KING STREET PHONE 22691 on the sufferer side showing Derrick Harriot's involvement as he founded and owned the label.Side A (Sufferer) A few minor surface scratches can be seen as well as a couple of dimples in the vinyl (a great legacy of the Jamaican pressing industry!) neither of which affects playing quality-no hiss, no jumping just sweet harmonies a storming melody and a killer bassline! Label great condition no ingrained dirt or smudging of writing just the price of 7/6 displayed on the side.Matrix has D.C.H and FDH-7578 in capitals and what appears to be GFR or GRR. Unusual for what is officially a 'White Label'. SIDE B Kiss a Finger A heartfelt plea to a woman sung over a rocksteady groove and melody. Here early roots and culture style can be heard in the group harmonies as well as those killer horn breaks echoing the harmonies. (Sounds like it could possibly be Dean Frazer and friends but who knows!)Paper label blank apart from 7/6. Martix has DCH and DCH7588 and what looks like HR in italics. Quite hard to see could be same as previous side (GFR/GRR). Label showing possibly old sticker damage which has removed a bit of the red surface. Vinyl showing several minor surface scratches (see picture) and looks like it is showing it's age (49 years old!) condition wise, but again nothing was noticeable when played on a Technics 1210 with a very light stylus and beefy studio monitors. Both sides can rock a soundclash at volume!! I am very reluctant to let this go so please can a good home be found to appreciate a landmark rocksteady tune at it's finest.
