Original Western Electric Vitaphone Turntable with Original Tone-Arm & 4-A ReproducerThis is the turntable and tone-arm / reproducer only, as shown in the photos The actual "motor" was a hook-up from the projector ( obviously not present ) that caused the turntable to rotate in synchronous speed with the projected film. This late 1920's Turntable and tone-arm/reproducer was removed from a Philadelphia theater basement around 40 years ago, and remains exactly as it was found, with turntable and guard-rail ( to prevent anyone bumping or jarring the sound reproduction while in operation ) are on heavy metal mounting ( in photos this is sitting on a wooden platform to hold it off the ground )The Western Electric Tone-Arm contains a Western Electric 4-A Reproducer. This needs a good cleaning, as it has been in storage for decades. I have never had it hooked up for operation, so cannot guarantee its full functionality. This is a true historical relic from the early sound film era, and very, very few of these are in private hands. This piece is very heavy, at least 50 pounds or more, and cannot be shipped. It is offered ONLY BY LOCAL PICK UP.It is located in far northern Delaware, about 25 minutes south of Philadelphia International Airport. ( I am also separately offering an early RCA Transcription Turntable - model 70-A - early 1930's . . and a Western Electric Tone-Arm & 9-A Reproducer, circe 1935 . . . see my other items.)
